When you meet Property Manager Tyharra “Ty” Cozier, you get a feeling she just might be famous someday. She seems too young to be so fearless, in such perpetual motion, and to have lived all the places she’s lived (New Jersey, Florida, England and Oregon).
Ty describes herself as “a major East Coast girl.” With a bachelor’s degree in theatre from Florida State University, it was her passion for acting that brought her west to study at the Portland Actors Conservatory. That passion also inspired her current three-year run in “Hands Up: 7 playwrights, 7 testaments.” The show sheds light on police brutality in the black community and works with the City of Portland and the Portland Police Bureau on social justice reform.
Ty worked in property management during college, so she came to TMT knowing some of the challenges that come with the job. On the flip side, she says, “The best part of my job is the people here. They are so kind and genuinely care about each other and the work we do.”
She started as TMT's office manager before being promoted to her current position. When she’s not taking care of business at TMT or teaching at Oregon Children’s Theatre, Ty is an avid reader of science fiction and a lover of classic rock and nighttime runs on the waterfront. She lives for Portland summers and being anywhere outside in the city.
We’re fortunate to have Tyharra managing o ur downtown properties. With all her talent, who knows where the next act will take her?
