On the surface, Sean McCarty is a numbers guy with more than two decades’ experience in the property management and development field. Dig a little deeper and you’ll uncover his passion for music (‘80s heavy metal, in particular) and his love for the funkier side of Portland life.
TMT President and CEO Vanessa Sturgeon was still in college when she interviewed Sean for his first job at TMT. That sharp college student is one of many things Sean appreciates about being part of the TMT team.
“The people I work with are the best. Unexpected things happen. Smoothies show up out of the blue when you really need one. That sort of thing. That’s the culture. That’s Vanessa (Sturgeon).”
A Montana native and Montana State University grad, Sean landed at TMT in 2001 with the industry platform experience the company was looking for. Today, he juggles accounting for multiple entities within TMT, manages all the budgets and survives the accounting madness known as November through April.
When he’s not crunching numbers, you’ll find him munching good food with friends at some of Portland’s dining hot spots, like Bollywood Theatre and ¿Por Que No? Taqueria.
And if this accounting gig doesn’t stick? Sean’s next dream job is concert promoter at Portland’s Revolution Hall. Rock on.
