VANESSA STURGEON
Vanessa Sturgeon is President of TMT Development Company, Inc. Vanessa has spent the last ten years working with her grandfather, Thomas P. Moyer, developing and managing mixed-use high-rise assets, retail shopping centers, and industrial parks in Oregon and Washington. In 2010, Vanessa was awarded both the 40 Under 40 2010 Award by the Portland Business Journal and the Volunteer Appreciation Award from the Portland Business Alliance. Vanessa was most recently honored in April 2011 with the Portland Business Journal's Women of Influence "Orchid Award" for her significant contributions to the Portland business community. Vanessa attended Santa Clara University, Atkinson Graduate School of Management and Willamette University College of Law.
One of Vanessa's passions is seeing the business community take an active role in philanthropy and education, and her civic involvement includes sitting on multiple Boards, including New Avenues for Youth, Portland Business Alliance where she serves as Vice Chair for Membership Services, Downtown Clean & Safe District, NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association, NAIOP Public Affairs Committee, the Portland Chief of Police Foundation and the Knight Cancer Council. Vanessa formally chaired the Central City Standing Committee of the Portland Business Alliance where she served as the Vice Chair of Downtown Services and served on the Board of the Pioneer Courthouse Square from 2007 to 2011 as well as the Salvation Army Board of Directors from 2004-2007. In a recent interview with the Portland Business Journal Vanessa expressed her commitment and enthusiasm for her job and company saying, "Coming to work is a joy, and I look forward to it every day because I talk to interesting and bright people all day long. I never want to do anything else."
